iOS 13.5.1 battery drain

The battery drain from background activity in iOS 13.5.1 is horrible. Happens on several apps, currently Bloom berg and Teamsnap. Same problem on my iPad and my wife's iPhone Xs. Come on Apple, this needs to be fix now!

in that case it is apps that have not been modified to run on the new OS and have runaway background usage, Viber fir example.

or a busted phone.

Nothing in 13.5.1 itself is causing this.

So to test this ( yes effort required)

  • backup
  • restore to factory settings as though you were selling it - see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201351
  • Set it up with your apple account
  • Check battery usage in that vanilla environment.
  • Restore from backup.

THIS DRAIN AND CHARGE ISSUE IS JUST RIDICULOUS NOW - YOU CAN NOT USE A PHONE ANYWHERE UNLESS YOU ARE HOME CAUSE THE DRAIN WILL JUST COME AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT IF YOU ONLY USE THE PHONE FOR LIKE A CHECK ON INSTAGRAM AND WHEN IT START DRAINING IT WILL JUST GO DOWN FROM 100% TO 80% TO 60% AND SO ON AND WHEN YOU START RECHARHING THE BATTERY WILL JUST DRAIN DOWN REGARDLES AND I?M SICK OF TI BY NOW

APPLE DO SOMETHING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM NOW FOR GOD SAKES

Yes I tried the force restart too. Actually by now I have almost tried everything that was suggested in this forum. Nothing is working. Yesterday night I kept my phone “on” - after charging it 100 percent. In the morning the battery remained 67 percent. And even when I switch off by using the slider... similar battery drains.

Nothing is working.

Battery health still shows maximum capacity 100 %.

New issue as of today:

Iphone charched to 100% and when you start using it for just few things like looking at IG or twitter it will just SHUT DOWN with no warning and will start up again then shut down and show black screen with battery and red line that your battery is almost empty.

When you plug it into a charge it will start up again and will give you battery at 1% and info that you have less then 10% battery left and then in few sec the battery will jump back up to 99%.

This started today and can't fox it. I've done a hard restart, allowed the battery to drain down and even did a reset of settings but the phone is still shutting down!!!

So took my Iphone to apple service yesterday morning as of now they are still looking at it..

The first thing they did was send me an option to leave my old Iphone 8 and they will give me new Iphone 8 for a charge of 424€ - ARE THEY MAD. Like I wanna buy my 1y 1 month phone again. CRAZY

How long does it take for them to check and fix a problem when you have to pay for it - you would think as soon as possible but now let's see how long it actually takes them and what they come up with.

As for that diagnostics test apple support made me to - it was **** the phone number in my country is always busy they probably have nobody on it anyways. So it was all for NOTHING.

duybnd83 you said "....So can I say that the "fix" Peter mentioned in ios 13.6 is just hide all Apple's service from the battery report :D . It's a brilliant fix , Apple....."

The upgrade to 13.6 was not given as a "fix". It was given as a necessary security requirement, but I mentioned elsewhere that it has "fixed" it for some - only because the act of reinstalling iOS is often a fix in itself.

P.S. I don't remember recommending anything to you by name so why mention me? I am not affiliated with Apple in any way and would not presume to help them "Hide" anything.
