Application Support - missing folder

Hello,

I have an issue with Google Chrome as the application will crash immediately after opening. When I tried to fix this issue, I came across numerous recommendations from the internet, many of them revolving around the "Google" folder in "Application Support". The problem is, that I simply don't have a Google folder in "Username" > Library > Application Support, even though I've reinstalled the programme several times. I even tried to create one ("Google" folder) myself, which I can't do as it shows "error-43".

Do you have any idea why the folder could be missing and how to bring it back?

Thank you, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked in the main Library for Application Support in there you might find Google.

Previously you were looking in the User/ <Username>/Library/Application Support path.

In Finder click Go in the menubar, select Go To Folder and type in

/Library/Application Support press Go

press Return.

A Finder window will be opened with Application Support highlighted,

have a look in there to see if you can see a Google folder.

FWIW, what should happen is whatever account you installed Chrome on should create the "Google" folder. When you log into a different account and run Google it should create a "Google" folder for that user. Something is preventing the creation of the folder in one account. Possibly a permissions problem.

Does Chrome run in the account that does have the "Google" folder?

No one told you to look in your Mail Library if you are referring to my post I quite clearly state main Library, and it is even in bold lettering.

If you had bothered to read my post properly and follow the instructions you would have seen that.

There are always two Application Support folders on a mac, on is in the MAIN Library

and the other is in the Users/<Username>/Library.

Have you got that.

Thank you for your replies! I am aware that there is a "Google" folder in the mail Library, as you advised. Unfortunately, this is not the folder I am looking for. This believe comes from the fact, that when I tried to open Chrome from another account, where it works fine, there was a Google folder located in the "User/ <Username>/Library/Application Support". I have attached a screenshot of this folder below.

@dialabrain - okey, thank you.

@Eau Rouge - Yes, not to sound rude, but I have read your post carefully and looked into main library. "Mail library" was a typo and I am sorry for the misunderstanding. There is a "Google" folder the main library ( Macintosh HD -> Library -> Application Support), as you described. The problem is, that I am looking for a "Google" folder, that should be located in the Users/<Username>/Library and not in the main library.

Edit: In other words, I think that there should be two different folders named "Google", one located in the main library and second in the users library, which is the one I am missing.

I have already tried that, but it didn't solve anything. I think the problem is not in the Chrome itself, as not only it stopped working out of the blue, but it also prevented both the normal Chrome and the Chrome Canary from working. Therefore I incline towards what @dialabrain said - that some other application / malware / setting prevents Chrome from working. The problem is, that I have no idea which.
