An easy way to get proper fractions on your mac

Is there An easy way to get proper fractions on your mac?

=====

Other posts suggest specifying one fraction at a time then pasting fraction at a time in after getting it from 'edit'

By doing this:

Open Special Characters from the Edit menu (cmd-ctrl-space).

Type “fraction” in the search field. Besides each of those letters, you’ll see the fraction glyphs.

=======

Instead, here they all are:

½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅕ ⅖ ⅗ ⅘ ⅙ ⅚ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞

Also if you would like to you can add keyboard shortcuts that will automatically change those fractions for you.

Follow the instructions here:

System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Text

-> Little + symbol on the bottom left -> It will create an entry

-> Type 1/2 on the left in the ( Replace ) Column

COPY ½ from the list above.

-> PASTE ½ on the right in the ( With ) column.

Repeat similarly with all the Fractions you would like to use.

then e.g. whenever you type 1/2 it will correct to ½ when you hit the space bar - and so on.

OR, you could just paste all these into a textedit document and copy the one you need from there every time you need it...

½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾ ⅕ ⅖ ⅗ ⅘ ⅙ ⅚ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞

I don't know why the OS didn't set this up for you in the first place...
