AppleCare+ for Refurbished Airpod Pros

I just bought a pair of refurbished Airpod Pros on Amazon and I'm looking to buy AppleCare+ for them. Is this possible? I tried inputting my serial number and it just said my device isn't eligible. If I brought them to an Apple store with a proof of purchase showing I just bought them would that change anything?

If they were refurbished AirPods sold from Apple you would be eligible but you have to buy those from Apple's site. You bough some from a marketplace seller and they are not eligible for AppleCare +.
