Audio issue when importing movie to iMovie 10.0.05- audio track doubles, is out of sync & one is pitched down

So I'm importing a movie I made using Logic 10 X (which I had imported so I could tighten up the audio there). The raw movie file from Logic sounds and look fine, but when I import it into iMovie and drag into a project to edit, the movie looks fine, but the audio sounds all crazy- it doubles the audio track, and the two are out of sync, and one of them is pitched down an octave or so. I've highlighted the clip and investigated the editor and it doesn't offer any clues about what's wrong- nothing odd in the adjust area of audio, or the speed (turtle icon) areas either... Is it just glitching? Am I doing something wrong (although I did exactly the same thing as my last import and it worked fine those times)...?

Try exporting the Logic 10 X clip to your Mac desktop and then use the free download Handbrake to convert the clip to H.264, Mp4/AAC. Then import the converted clip into iMovie. It should work fine. You can get Handbrake here:

https://handbrake.fr/

You can also try these diagnostic procedures to see one of them cures the issue:

Updating

iMovie

To update/redownload iMovie 10, drag your

iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the

trash. (You can skip that step if you had iMovie 10 on your computer before,

but deleted it.) Sign in to the app store and open your purchases folder by

clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. You will see

your purchases displayed, including iMovie 10. Redownload/update iMovie from

there. If not successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash (if you

moved it there) and return it to the Applications folder.

Deleting

Preferences

Try opening iMovie while holding down the

Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that

appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back

to your projects.

New

Project

Another thing you can try is to copy your

media into a newly created project and see if that cures the problem. To do

that, do an Edit/Select All, Edit/Copy, of the media in your project and then

Edit/Paste it into the newly created project.

Safe

Mode

You could also try booting up in Safe

Mode (see Finder menu for instructions) and, after everything loads,

immediately shut down and reboot in normal mode. Then see if iMovie works

properly.

I am not familiar with Logic 10, but perhaps you are using a codec, or frame rate, or resolution that is incompatible with iMovie. Or maybe this particular set of clips has a corruption problem. Did you make a change from your usual export settings? iMovie likes H.264, Mp4/AAC. That is why I suggested that you use Handbrake to convert the clip to H.264, Mp4/AAC. That should clear up any format and encoding glitches. After you download Handbrake open the app and do a File/Open Source. Navigate to your video clip and click on it to choose it as the source. Then do File/Start Converting. In a couple of minutes the clip will be converted. Import the converted clip into iMovie and see if it plays correctly.

To further isolate the issue, try exporting a video with iMovie that does not come from Logic 10. If it exports O.K. then the problem could be caused by the codecs used by Logic 10.

If still having the issue, try running through the diagnostic list that I gave you and see if you can get to the bottom of it.

Thank you Rich. I will try those options... I should mention though that I had no problems before this one import, and after that every import was messed up in the same way. So this has me wondering if maybe what caused everything to get messed up after the previous one that worked was a simple mistakenly hit command which did something to the nature of new imported movies, or if not, then I suppose it is that the version of iMovie got corrupted somehow and I'm just going to have to update it. In nay case, I'l try the options above but if what I said above makes any more sense to a quicker fix or inspires a more different response, please let me know. Thanks again!
