Hi everybody!
When I export in iMovie is it possible to continue editing? What happens to the export if I do?
Im using the project as a template and have to render a number of files and each takes a very long time. I hope to minimise time need by no longer waiting for the file to export and just rearrange the next export.
Alternatively does this work in Final Cut Pro?

Yes, you can export (share out) a project as many times as you want. After exporting you can continue editing and share out again. And edit and share out again. Sharing out repeatedly will not effect previous exports. The exports are standalone movies that are no longer tied to the project.
If you want to continue editing, but still keep intact the previous edits of a project after sharing out, you can duplicate the project and then edit and export the duplicate project. That way you preserve your original project with its original edits.

Now after trying I realised this didnt solve my question. I forgot to mention that I would like to edit simultaneously during export to save time. I dont believe I can open a duplicate project while iMovie is exporting correct? Any other ideas?
No, you can open a duplicate project while iMovie is exporting another project, edit it while iMovie is exporting, and then export it while the other movie is still exporting. It will queue up and wait its turn. Rendering is computer intensive, so if you render and edit at the same time you will get some slowing down, depending on how powerful your computer is. It is best to do one thing at a time to avoid the possibility of freezes or crashes. But if your computer can handle it, no reason not to do it.
