With macOS 10.15.5, the usually reliable Safari (now v.13.1.1) is often either slow or hangs while loading webpages. I find that Firefox v.77.0.1 is much more reliable. I emptied the cache and cleared the history. No VPNs or anti-virus software are running. Before I look into extension issues or create any new accounts to test is there something else I'm missing? Thank you.

Some things to try.
Safari - Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues.
After so many years of using Safari as my default browser I could not put up with it any more so I decided to be brave and try another browser. So far it is excellent.
Thank you. I don't know which these changes was most effective but I changed the DNS settings, uninstalled a Safari extension, and lastly rebooted the modem, time capsule, and computer. For now I see a big improvement when using Safari.
Can I fix Safari 13.1.1 so it is not slow or hanging?
