Text message sent to android email

When I text an android user, the message goes to their email. Is there any way to change that?

I also need to mention that this android user has a macbook/icloud email address, which I saved under their contact info. Their contact info appears blue, not green in my contacts.

thank you all for your suggestions!

i decided to create 2 separate contacts for this person. this is how I would enter their contact info:

John Smith - only save the phone number for text

John Smith FaceTime - only save the iCloud email address for FaceTime feature.

I am sending the texts using their contact name (i have both their phone number and email saved under their contact name)

Some messages go through ok, and some messages are sent to the email.

is there a way to make sure the texts don’t go to the email at all?

I'm thinking I may have to remove the email address from their contact info, but I would prefer if I could avoid that.
