Bluethooth wont stay connected to Iphone Pro Max 06/13/2020

I just upgraded from Iphone 8 to Iphone 11 pro max and I'm so irritated with the Bluetooth connection. My Bluetooth is Plantronics M165 and I never had a problem with it on my Iphone 8, but now I can't keep it connected to the 11 pro max. Every few seconds it will disconnect then connect over and over again. I am all updated to IOS 13.5.1 before anyone asks. This is so irritating. This Plantronics is the best Bluethooth I have ever used and have never had a problem. Now that I bought a high priced new phone I now have problems. Can anyone help??? I shouldn't have to buy a new Bluethooth!!!

Hi, HTTR68.

I'm glad you decided to reach out on the Apple Support Communities. I was sorry to read that your Bluetooth headset isn’t working as well with your iPhone 11 Pro Max as you expected. I’d be happy to offer a few suggestions to see if I can help.

First, I would isolate a little. I know that your headset worked with your iPhone 8, is it disconnecting like this with any other devices (e.g. updated iPad or Mac)? What about other Bluetooth devices, are they disconnecting on your new iPhone?

If you narrow it down to only this Bluetooth headset and your new iPhone, check to see if your headset needs a firmware update:

How to update the firmware on your Plantronics headset

Then, I would try these steps, testing between each:

  1. Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (if applicable)
  2. Toggle Bluetooth off and back on in Settings (not Control Center)
  3. Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
  4. Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference - Apple Support
  5. Disable Wi-Fi in Settings (not Control Center)

If you’re still not able to get it to stay connected try forgetting it in Settings, reset it to factory default settings (your headset, not your iPhone), and pair it again. You may need to reach out to Plantronics for instructions on how to reset your headset.

Still no luck? At this point it may be a good idea to contact Apple Support for more options.
