automatic formatting of list numbers in iPad “notes” application

In iPad notes, whenever I type a “1)” at the beginning of a line, it gets converted to “ 1. “ -- the ‘)’ is changed to a period, the text is tabbed over, and more whitespace is added.

That is not what I want, and it is especially annoying when I am typing numbers for some other purpose than making lists.

Is there some way to turn off this behavior? If not, how about providing an option to do so in General-->Keyboards?

Whilst I’m unable to definitively state “why” this occurs, I suspect that this behaviour is a feature of the Notes App.

I’m not aware of any configuration setting that modifies this specific App behaviour.

Apple do invite constructive feedback, suggestions and feature requests via their feedback pages. I recommend that submit details of the issue and the circumstances that make the current behaviour troublesome.

Whilst not being able to offer you an immediate remedy, I hope this information and suggestion is in some way helpful to you.
