How do you rearrange the photos in an album?

How do you rearrange the photos displayed in an album? I just uploaded photos into an album and want to look at them in a particular order. I want to drag and drop them into sequence, but they keep popping back to their original spot. Shouldn't this be easy?

Using Photos v. 4.0 on Mac Book Pro using 10.14.6 Mojave.

What kind of album are you using?

You cannot rearrange photos in a shared album, or in any album that has been automatically created by Photos for Mac. It is also difficult to rearrange the photos in a slideshow project, unless it is a basic slideshow theme, like Classisms or Ken Burns.

But you should be able to drag the photos into any order you want in a standard album.

In a standard album you can also ctrl-click or right-click the album in the sidebar and use the command "Sort > Keep Sorted by...".
