ipod no longer shows up to synch

Yesterday everything was okay.. today when i plug in my ipod to synch new songs it longer shows up. I rebooted my computer, turned off my ipod and still no luck. I have not updated any software since yesterday so I have no clue what the problem is today. Has anyone out there had this happen?
