Opening chime won't stop dinging

When you open Macbook Pro there is a "ba-da-ding" chime that sounds every time. On mine that chime has started occurring approximately once per hour and it is not due to booting up the computer. Any suggestions as to how to make the chime go away altogether or just fix the constant chiming?

Hello Jazz814,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

From what I understand, you are having to opening chime go off randomly when using the MacBook Pro, correct? I'm here to help you take a look in to that!

First, let's ensure there is no notifications set to this chime sound on the MacBook Pro:

Use notifications on your Mac

Next, let's create a new user account to test the if the issue continues:

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Before going into more software troubleshooting, a backup of the data on the device would be encouraged to Time Machine:

Back up your Mac with Time Machine

Hopefully this helps!

Cheers!
