Matias (or other) keyboards vs Apple keyboards

I’m becoming increasingly more frustrated with Apple Keyboads. The extended one for my iMac seems to be slower. And, granted, I have slight problems with dexterity, but the keyboard just seems to make it more difficult. Are Matias keyboards better, i.e. more responsive and more correctly responsive, especially for those of us who are borderline carpel tunnel?

Granted I’m not as young but I used to type about 50 words per minute, but I find I can only get to about 36 with the Apple extended keyboard. (I long for the old days when the keys were raised, and it required a little more action from my fingers but not as much as a manual typewriter.) My opinion, but I don’t think these new slim, sleek designs with feather-light action are all that good for you ergnomically.

Any suggestions of other brands or specific Matias models would be appreciated.

I concur with what den.thed wrote. I loathe the "chicklet" keyboard and mice that Apple sells these days. so, used a Logitech keyboard until it gave up the ghost, then found a das Keyboard on local kijiji. It's a mechanical keyboard with 2 usb ports on it. The person whom I bought it from said he was selling it because it was too heavy , so that's the keyboard for me. As for mice, I have a kensington trackball.

Magic? Shmagic !
