Location Services Freezing

Whenever I go into location services the screen freezes and I can not make changes in there All updates are current on iPhone.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! It looks like you're still having an issue with Location Services on your iPhone 11, and we'd like to do what we can to help out.


Have you restarted your iPhone since noticing this issue? If not, go ahead and do that, as a restart can resolve unusual issues.

Restart your iPhone 

If the restart didn't resolve the issue, let's get some additional info to help isolate the issue.


At the top left of your iPhone screen, next to the time, what color arrow is shown? Solid purple, purple outline or gray?


Is this happening at Settings > Privacy > Location Services? Or is it when using a particular app which access your location?

Turn Location Services and GPS on or off on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch


If it happens on the Settings screen, what steps do you perform before the screen freezes?

These with both Wi-Fi and cellular data, is there any difference?

Thanks for the replies, following the steps and additional information. We appreciate it! This really is an unusual issue. Let's continue to try and resolve this.


Is your iPhone from an employer or school? If so, there may be a restriction built in to not allow changes to Location Services. Check with your employer's or school's IT department. Get started with a supervised iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch


Another restriction can be from Screen Time. At Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Location Services, is Allow Changes enabled? Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch


If neither of those scenarios apply, then something within the iOS may not have loaded correctly. What we would suggest doing is making sure you have a current iCloud or computer backup. How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch


Then using your computer, restore the iOS on your iPhone. Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

Set your iPhone up as new first.

Test if you can use Location Services.

Then restore from your backup: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

If the issue happens again after the backup is restored, then something from the backup is causing the issue. You can restore again and leave your iPhone set up as new.

I am having this issue; on iPad running 13.6.1;

Navigating to Privacy->Location Services causes settings app to freeze.

Once in this state re-opening the settings does not help; navigating to Location Services still freezes

(other menus seem to work)


I have found that only powering off / resetting the iPad (up,down, hold power)

will get it out this state temporary !!!.


Also once working you can navigate to the Location Services and minimize/switch to different app then

after some period (unknown) returning to the settings the iPad settings app will be stuck frozen Location Services.


will have to try a factory reset to see if this fixes it but looks like an issue with one of the recent updates
