I cannot read all the old messages on the imessage.I was only able to read the message over the last a few days

It sounds like older messages have disappeared and you can only see the last few days. If you have been storing your messages in iCloud, check out this link to make sure its enabled.

You can have messages after a certain point automatically delete. Settings > Messages > Keep Messages
