So I saved an image from google and its now on my desktop. I can move it around the screen but if I try opening it, it says the file can't be opened. When I'm trying to move it to the trash or selecting the option by right clicking, it just won't delete. I'm worried that its some sort of virus? I have no idea helpp

I had no trouble at all deleting the file. Not surprising as it's just a JPEG image and the file name doesn't include any oddball characters. So the question becomes, why can't you delete it?

My guess is it has illegal characters in the name. Please post the exact, full file name of the item.
Have you restarted the Mac? Or, fully shut it down, wait about 10 seconds and then turn it back on.
Do you have control of your desktop back after that?

That works. Okay, a file name as simple as ugh.jpg should not be causing such problem.
Get Info does correctly recognize the image listed in the Where from: location as a JPEG. Which, if you follow the path, is this image:
However, what doesn't make sense is the name of the file should be 281-2816570_1080p-the-weekend-wallpapaer-hd.jpg, not ugh.jpg.
Is this image the same as what ugh.jpg looks like, or is it something entirely different?
ohmygod I can't legit open anything. ANYTHING I try to open on my Mac says 'the document/file couldn't be opened'. I HAVE LOTS OF IMPORTANT THINGS ON HERE. what is going on. I NEVER had this problem before.
No problem. When something unexpected like that happens, it's pretty normal to panic at least a bit. Especially if that's the only place your important information exists.
