Can I "forget" Time Capsule?

For years I have been using Time Capsule as my router to Internet & wi-fi.

I have encountered troubles with Time Capsule and Catalina, to the point I have had to setup external hard disk to accomplish my MBP backups.

In addition I have installed a Linksys Mesh Wi-fi Router which seems to be functioning normally (my whole computer system).

Airport Utility still shows the Airport Time Capsule = "Not Found".

Can I simply "forget" the Time Capsule?

Should my computer system continue to function if I "Forget" the TC? -- which has been connected via ethernet to my cable modem.

Will the cable modem & my Wi-Fi Network continue to function?

There would not then be a physical connection between the cable modem and my MBP

but the connection would work because of the Linksys router system -- ?

If you're not using the Time Capsule you can unhook it from the modem and forget it. How is your Time Machine backup drive now connected to your Mac?
