USB mouse not working on MacBook after plugging it in a PC

I have a plug and play USB mouse which worked perfectly fine on my MacBook Pro 2020 (using a dongle to add USBs), until yesterday when I plugged the same mouse in a PC laptop. Now the mouse won't light up or be recognized by the MacBook. I tried rebooting, unplugging, all three USB ports in the dongle, switching the dongle to another USB-C port. I think the dongle should be fine as I can still charge my Mac through it.

Hey there anonimen31,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you’re having an issue using your USB mouse through a dongle on your MacBook Pro. We’ll be happy to help with this.

If you haven’t already, try resetting the SMC and NVRAM on your Mac and see if this helps:

How to reset the SMC of your Mac

Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac

If that doesn’t help, go through the steps here and see if they have any impact on this:

If a USB device doesn’t work with Mac

We hope this helps.

Take care.
