The system setting Login Options > Name and password is not honored

MacBook Pro 16 inch / Catalina 10.15.5.

Setting:

System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Options > Name and password

When I log in, I get the list of users, the above setting is not honored.

I have tried switching to List of users, rebooting and logging in, setting bak to Name and password. No success, it is still showing the list of users.

Although not a showstopper, it's annoying, and it's also a (slight) security risk.

ALSO just noticed... the Automatic login pop-up is grayed out. I see no reason for that either (before you ask, the global settings lock is off, of course).

Many thanks for any inisght!

You may want to try resetting NVRAM.
