i recently started having the issue of my plugins opening in control mode. At this point i have tried the suggested fix of: Preferences>Display>mixer> and uncheck “open in controls view”. However when i open a plugin up after making this change, it still opens in control mode and when i recheck the preferences, “open in control mode” is rechecked. Please help!
I had the same problem and solved it - it was being caused by an input device extension I installed called BetterTouchTool. Not sure if you're using BetterTouchTool, but if you're not, it likely has something to do with an extension you've installed confusing system prefs Accessibility settings.
