Is there a way to daisy chain through the two monitors with Thunderbolt 2?
Hello all,
I am interested in purchasing two Dell U2419H monitors and using my "13 MacBook Pro (Early 2015 w/ Retina) to daisy chain through them. I understand this is a complicated task since Macs aren't enabled with the MST system via DisplayPort 1.2 that some Dell monitors (like these) use for daisy chaining (i.e. sharing a continuous display between multiple monitors). I have read that there are numerous ways to work around this using the Thunderbolt 3/USB-C adapter, but my MacBook only has Thunderbolt 2 capabilities and these monitors don't have USB-C connectivity.
I'm wondering if there is a way to daisy chain through the two monitors with Thunderbolt 2? Would this following suggestion work:
- Connecting my MacBook Pro to a Thunderbolt 2 docking station, then running the DisplayPort 1.2 from the dock to the first monitor, and another DisplayPort 1.2 from the first to the second monitor
Would this work? Are there easier ways? I haven't been able to find much on the web regarding Thunderbolt 2 connectivity. Thanks.
