I am trying to use disk utility to encrypt a folder on an external HD.
folder is 2TB.
I get message saying operation can't be completed.
iMac Line (2012 and Later)
Disk Utility does not encrypt folders.
You can only encrypt whole drives or partitions.
Were you creating an Image of a folder, and trying to encrypt the image? Was there any more to the error message?
Disk Utility does not encrypt folders. You can, however, create an encrypted disk image in which you can store a folder.
