Can I use Macbook Pro with an external dock (Thunderbolt / or USB to connect more devices) and external monitor with DisplayPort?
Do I need to keep the Macbook Pro turned-on (power) all the time with display lid closed or open?
Is there any dock available which I can use to turn on / off the Macbook Pro?

Yes. The Mac must be connected to power (via the dock or directly), and have an external display, keyboard and mouse/trackpad (Bluetooth or wired).
