iPhone SE camera auto switches from photo to video

Hello. When I press the button to take a photo in the camera app, anything except an extremely swift tap will cause the phone to automatically switch to recording a video. This has resulted in about half of my photos being one second videos during a round of taking some photos. I turned off Live Mode as older support questions suggested. This does not change this behavior. If this is a feature, it is extremely annoying, given that the video mode is right there and easy to switch to as desired. Can I turn this behavior off? If not, would you please consider creating a way to turn this off in a future update? Best, J

Hello jmtucker7.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand that when using the Camera app that a video records rather than take a photo.

Has this always happened when taking photos? Have you made any recent changes to your iPhone? Are you currently using the iOS beta?

Apple has recently released an iOS update. Please use the steps here to update your device: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Here’s more information on taking photos: Take photos with the camera on iPhone - Apple Support
