Two versions of the same book, by different publishers. One has 766 pages, and the other, despite apparently having more type on each page, only has 449 pages. Is the latter an abridged version? It does not state that anywhere on the purchase web-page.
I guess you should contact the publisher of the book.
The situation you describe is normal for a book which is not abridged. If the book with less pages had the same (or less) amount of type on each page, that would make one think it was abridged.
correction....it’s the longer version which has more type on each page, not the shorter version, and I would therefore expect the longer version to have fewer pages of the two.
However, I just realized that the reason for the discrepancy may be that the number of pages in the publisher’s description is not the same as the number of pages when viewed on iPad. The actual books may be quite different in size, and the number of pages on iPad may be quite different than what is listed in the publisher’s description. So I will buy the cheaper version.

Yes, one WOULD think so. Unless the book with fewer pages is an abridged version. Hence my question.
