Ipad Pro will not charge even though battery icon shows

My iPad Pro will not charge or turn on even though the battery icon shows. I have checked and there is no debris in charging port. I have tried the volume up press and release, volume down press and release and holding the off button and nothing changes, just the battery icon. It's plugged in to the wall with a good cable and adapter. The only other thing is that I didn't update the recent software update but I can't even turn it on to do that. Any help would be great-thanks!
