Hi Amynthys.

Thanks for following up and letting us know that the issue is not that the sound is not heard.

You mentioned that the volume is changing on your iPhone. If you're using an iPhone X or later, please check to see if 'Attention Aware Features' is enabled. This setting allows the TrueDepth camera to check to see if you're looking at the iPhone, and will then lower the volume of alerts: About Attention Aware features on your iPhone X or iPad Pro - Apple Support.

If there is no change, or if that feature is turned off, go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Do you have 'Change with Buttons' turned on or off? Does it make a difference if it's on or off, or does the same behavior remain?

To be sure that we've covered all the basics, have you also tried restarting your iPhone with these steps: Restart your iPhone

If the issue persists let us know which apps you're seeing this issue with.

Also, what is the iOS version number showing when you go to Settings > General > About > Software Version?

Take care.

Yes it’s been an issue for me on and off since iOS 11/12

apple put on a front but deep down it’s $$$

and don’t even get me started on the issue that callers can never hear you speaking.

Another old issue with thousands of threads. Siri can heard from 10 feet away but if my phones at my face people struggle with hearing me. Again literally thousands of threads on this dating way back.

im onto a galaxy next time. I was Android for years, apple the past 6 and highly dissapointed. Once you get past the showmanship they are overpriced and sub par hardware.

So many of us from the original thread here last year, before I even started this one, had already been contacting Apple Support. Multiple times. As I mentioned, they kept trying to make us file insurance claims on our dime and get new phones vs fixing the issue. Yeah it’s repetitive, and irritating with all the “me toos” but what else can we do. Also, there are moderators on this thread. They are notified every single time someone makes a comment on a thread that has not been tagged solved. So we’re not talking to ourselves, they’re literally ignoring the issue.

Yeah mate totally!

I wasn’t really going to waste the time telling him this as I thought he was just a fanboy (although his second message did step back a bit)

like you say they just want more sales, whether it’s new or reconditioned units there are so many small irritating bugs in iOS that are literally basic functions of a “phone” that don’t work it’s unreal.

I’ll be voting with my feet the next upgrade as I too am tired of being palmed off.

i see you’ve been “edited” can’t have freedom of speech anymore. I wonder how long before we are accused of “spreading fear and panic” for discussing genuine negative user experiences 🤔

Woody,

Thanks for your contribution. As a long suffering victim of this issue with the same factors as you (2020 GMC Sierra, Verizon, 14.0.1) I do have some questions for clarification after reading your post.

You wrote that "As soon as I disconnect from Bluetooth in my truck my ringer volume automatically goes back to full volume"........That doesn't sound as if the problem is fixed when you are BT connected to the GMC's Infotainment system. So can I ask: If you connect to your truck's bluetooth now after resetting all settings does your volume still go to zero when you get in the vehicle and connect? Just looking for clarification. I have had my radio replaced by the dealer already one time. Not entirely related to this issue, but the infotainment system is definitely the week point of my GMC after 16,000 miles IMO. Thanks for your help.

Thank you for putting Not Solved!!!

I went back and forth with an engineer earlier saying the original thread was labeled as solved so clearly no one is having issues anymore. They didn’t know I created this one in July. Because that one is so old, it’s the first one that pops up when people search this issue. The phone “disconnected” 🙄 mid conversation. How convenient. I’m over it. I’m still using my big *** iPad Pro 12.9 to notify me of calls.

I had iPhone 11 for a few weeks got iPhone 12 and it is happening to my iPhone 12 same as it was happening to the 11 ringer and alerts going down on its own what the heck I paid over 800 bucks for this phone I thought apple was the best any tips on how to fix this should I try to get a new phone but I bet it happens to the Jew one also please contact me at jimmytheclown4@gmail.com asap

Oh we have dozens upon dozens of tips. The problem is none of them has worked for the vast majority of us. Best I can tell you is to go back to page one of the thread, and try the fixes that some mentioned.

You answered your own question regarding trying to purchase a new phone, since you said you’d already done so with proof of continuing issue. As you’ll see, this is a years old problem.

Jew or Gentile....Black or white....I don’t think it’s a discriminatory irritant. I’m getting more equal opportunity **** up vibes.

(I really tried, but couldn’t help myself)

Good Luck!

Yes.....still happening. None of the suggested fixes have any effect on the issue.

running iOS 14.1

connect to my GMC infotainment via Bluetooth and my ringer volume and text volume immediately drop to zero. I can turn it up using the side volume buttons but it will return to zero just as quickly.

happens less frequently when I’m connected via Bluetooth to my plantronics earpiece.
