Why is it I can't watch an Apple TV plus movie on Mac Book Pro

Why can't I watch an Apple TV Plus movie on a 2019 Apple Mac Book Pro laptop using the Apple TV Plus app? I get the error message: This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection).

A few possible causes are using Screen Sharing, or an external monitor, or having installed a third party GPU driver including one for that Mac's built-in Intel graphics processor.

For elementary troubleshooting steps review If you can't stream or watch movies or TV shows from the Apple TV app, iTunes Store, or third-party apps.

If you can find no obvious cause use https://reportaproblem.apple.com/ or contact Apple: Contact Support. Apple wants you to buy stuff and they certainly don't want it to be inconvenient.
