Any risk to upgrading iTunes for iPod classic?

I have two 160GB iPod classics and a PC running Windows 10. I have not updated iTunes in years because I've always been afraid that new versions of iTunes will stop working with my old iPods. Is there any compelling reason to upgrade iTunes? The version I am currently running is 11.0.5.5. Are there any features or bug fixes worth having in 12.10.7, which appears to be the last version of iTunes for Windows?

To the best of anyone's knowledge here, the current version of iTunes (and today, that's 12.10.7) does work with the iPod Classic.

One good reason for running the latest version of iTunes is to protect yourself from ne'er-do-wells, who may be able to hack into older versions. (A ne'er-do-well is someone who is up to no good, in case you didn't know.)

One of the main contributors to these discussions has an iPod Classic that he has been using with the current iTunes. My iPod Classic failed. Woe is me. (I'll let you look that one up for yourself.)

In the end, it's your choice, but most experienced users will probably recommend using the latest version.
