Brand new MacBook Air freezing randomly?

I JUST got a new 2020 MacBook Air yesterday in the mail. It was a big upgrade from my 5 year old Retina MacBook Pro, so I was very excited. I love the laptop, but there is one thing that is super annoying that really disappoints me. Probably around 20-30 times a day or so, I'll be doing something and then the entire screen will just freeze for 10 or so seconds. The only thing I can move is my cursor. The seconds on the clock freeze, my typing freezes, etc. However, if I'm typing something while it's frozen, everything I typed will show once the computer revives itself. It doesn't freeze to the extent that I have to reboot the computer, but it's SO annoying that this happens on a brand new computer. Since typing this post, it's already happened to me twice. It seems to only happen when I'm typing something rather long (like an email or a post), or when I'm jumping between tabs doing multiple things. If I'm just scrolling through facebook or doing very simply things on the internet, it won't freeze. Another thing that happened twice yesterday was that when I came back and opened my laptop after being away for a half an hour or so, is that my laptop will have completely shut down and restarted and then it would give me the message saying "your computer restarted because of a problem." That hasn't happened since mid-day yesterday, so hopefully it's not going to happen again. Normally, I'd just take the device straight into an Apple store to address this problem, but COVID-19 makes that difficult. I don't exactly have the time to mail in my computer to have it fixed right now, as I am moving overseas in 2 weeks (the whole reason I got a new computer was because my old one was starting to act up and it's MUCH cheaper to buy Apple products here in the US than overseas). I'd really like to see if there are any potential quick fixes for this problem.

UPDATE: I have already tried resetting the SMC--didn't work. I also have run a diagnostics report that reported that my laptop has no issues.
