My imessage attachments wont load on my new phone after upgrading. Anything I can do?

I recently switched from an iPhone 7 to an iPhone SE, and used iCloud to load my new phone with the contents of my old phone. The only difference between the two now is my messages - when I go to details to look at attachments, my photos and files sent between friends and I are missing in large quantities. I'm wondering if this has to do with messages indexing? Would love any advice on this, or if this is not a solvable issue.

Thank you!

iPhone SE, iOS 13

Hello frannylondon,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having trouble with photos showing in Messages. We are happy to share information that may help.

Do you see the message "More results will be shown once Messages finish Indexing" when attempting to view the photos? If so, stay connected to Wi-Fi until the attachments have had chance to reindex.

If it has been several days, and you are still seeing that message, try togging Messages off and then back on again under Settings > your name > iCloud > Messages. You can find more information here: Keep all your messages in iCloud.

You may also want to restart your iPhone to see if that resolves the issue: Restart your iPhone.

Take care.
