usb c hub gets hot very quickly and then disconnects all the usb devices
I bought the new macbook pro 2020 13inch with 4 usb c ports and I had to buy a usb c hub as well to connect my external monitor, mouse, keyboard and headset
the usb c hub works fine for a few hours and then suddenly the usb devices stop working, although they are powered - I can see their led lights are powered
the external monitor still works
the usb hub at this point is very hot
I tried with 2 different hubs a cheap unbranded one and when that was failing I bought a much more expensive satechi hub(I found this brand from the apple store) - nothing changed
I then tried combinations by removing usb devices for example only monitor + mouse
the usb hub still fails - right now I only have the mouse without the monitor and the hub feels a bit hot
how much power does a mouse need really?
fyi all of these devices worked perfectly on a usb a hub I had for my previous laptop that was a fraction of the price of a usb c hub
I would accept the usb c hub might be faulty if I didn't try with different hubs and combinations
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15
