Ultra-Wide monitor Selection, Dell U3818DW, with macOS Catalina

I've been looking for a 38" monitor to connect both a Macbook Pro and Windows laptop to. I was interested in the Dell U3818DW, but with extensive research, I have noticed the Dell has connectivity issues with USB-C. If I purchase a Mac Mini, has anyone had success connecting to the Dell U3818DW since the Mac Mini has to be plugged in for power? Other things I have read, about MacOS, display resolutions decreased on the Dell U3818DW (to 1280x800) since the upgrade from Mojave to Catalina.

FYI- My Macbook Pro is the Retina, 15-Inch, Late 2013 and the Mac Mini would be a new purchase, current model.
