when I try to update xcode from app store, it tells my there is no enough space.
25GB is free.
and sometimes, it starts downloading then stop saying it cannot update this app.

In general macOS usage, 25 GB free space is a ~full storage device.
Xcode requiring as much as 50 GB isn’t all that unusual, depending on local requirements.
Plus the transient storage necessary to unpack it.

There are third-party storage upgrades for 2017 and various earlier MacBook Air models, as well.
Free up more storage, and try again.

Solved: I downloaded Xcode from https://developer.apple.com/download/ and installed.
no 25GB is enough. i downloaded it from https://developer.apple.com/download/ and installed without a problem
