Why are my AirPod pros at two different charge levels

Every now and then after I use my AirPods and put them back in the case, the battery levels for the left and right AirPods will be completely different. For example, the left will be at 74% and the right will be at 32%. This is after obviously using both simultaneously and charging both at the same time. Is this normal? What is causing the difference is charge levels?

There's a thread about this on MacRumors: AirPods Pro different battery level (Left vs. Right)

It's inconclusive what the issue is. Someone managed to solve it like this:

I solved my problem and here was the issue. It turns out that the left Airpod, the one which always seemed weaker than the right, wasn’t charging correctly in the case. However, it was due to my incorrect mounting of the silicone component. I noticed that it was charging just fine without the silicone. So I paid more attention to the installation process. Voila! My problem went away. User error.

But for others, this wasn't the problem.

Yeah At this point I don’t think theres really any issue with the AirPods/battery themselves, the problem is with the battery widget on my phone displaying false battery levels. I haven’t had any issues with the AirPods dying prematurely or not charging in their case or any similar issue. It’s just that the battery information given is completely arbitrary every now and then, and I don’t know why. Up until this point it hasn’t been a huge hindrance, but I’m still not 100% sure if it’s just a harmless glitch or I have a faulty product that needs to be replaced
