E-mail that is sent to my mail app doesn’t get pushed on my iPhone. I have to refresh manually. This problem occurs on the Gmail app as well as the Apple Mail app.
I noticed an option in the "Settings>Password&Accounts>FetchNewData" that my mail account is set to 'fetch', but I cant select 'push' there. It doesn’t exist.
The general new data fetch is set to do it automatically.

Then ask yahoo. - if you see no push data for yahoo then it can't be used.
Ask google about their app.
Well my mail app is connected to yahoo. Not gmail. I was only stating that the gmail app doesn’t work either. I’m more concerned about the main mail app on the iPhone.

I've read that push notification for gmail account has been removed by google. You can confirm that by either contacting google or looking at their support site.
