For the last week I have been trying to open my Photos application on my MacBook Pro and all I get is the spinning rainbow wheel of death. I have to force quit the app and it says "not responding". Please advise, I need to get to my photos!

I have tried to start it with the option key and it did nothing! Still not responding.
I am not sure if I have a backup. I thought time machine was backing it up but right now I am thinking it didn't do it.
Have you tried to start it with the option key held down and create a new library?

I tried to get to safe mode.....I don't think it went into safe mode after the restart, but the program started working anyway. So, maybe I just needed to restart my computer.
