How to copy only my contacts from one iphone to another running the same IOS version.
I tried to do this with iTunes but it did not work.
iCloud is all full of a backup and I only want to do a simple copy of the contacts.
Why is this soo painful to do with IOS devices and what is the answer on how to do it?
One device is the old SE and the new iphone is the new version of the SE 2020.

Also, I do not want my contacts from the iCloud. I want the contacts directly stored on my iphone.
I did find some ideas on how to do this on the internet but the fetures have been changed on iTunes
or iCloud settings and option.
I recommend looking for data transfer apps. There are many of them in the app store, "Copy my Data" is one application I know. I believe you have the ability to transfer contacts only directly to your new device.
I can not believe how much pain this is. I decided to buy more iCloud storage so I could use that method and before I
did the iCloud backup I selected the contacts app button so it would be included in the backup. Before IOS would allow
me to turn on the button it made be select the Merge contacts. Well to my surprise only the iCloud contacts were visible on
my contacts and all my local contacts were gone!!!! Apple is insane to allow this level of quality in it's software!!
BTW, I worked for 27 years as a Hardware Engineer in all type of computer systems and wireless system in the valley.
I can not understand this poor level of user interfacing in the year 2020. In DOS and UNX I would hve had this done in 5 minutes.
OK, You had the best idea and after I installed a real great App named CopyMyData the old phone contacts are now in the new phone. Since Apple has that bug where the iCloud contacts write over all local contacts during the so called merge, no iCloud backup is possible of my local contacts.
I have searched the support questions related to my issue and none of them provide a solution to my issue.
In DOS and UNIX you had a user accessible file management system that is not the case in iOS as part of the security enclave.
