Received replacement Airpod Pros that are on different firmwares.

I had a problem with rattling in my Airpod Pros, and Apple mailed me replacement ones. I received them both and was excited to get them connected, but tried all of the steps to get them paired and nothing worked. I found forums online saying that the problem is that they are on different firmwares. I checked to make sure this was true, and it was. One of them is on 2D15 and the other is on 2B588. I have tried all of the steps for the past couple days to get them to update, but it hasn't worked. Any help is welcome.

Hi biggrizzly67, my understanding from reading third party sites like this is that the current version of AirPods Pro firmware is 2D27. Check again by following these steps to see what your firmware is, as it is possible it may have updated.

    • Make sure the ‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌ are connected to your iOS device.
    • Open the Settings app.
    • Tap General.
    • Tap About.
    • Tap ‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌.
    • Look at the number next to "Firmware Version."

There's no clear out way that I am aware of forcing the update, it happens on its own, as far as I am aware, over the air, while they are connected to an iOS device. Putting the ‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌ in the case, connecting the ‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌ to a power source, and then pairing the ‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌ to an iPhone or iPad may cause the update to occur after a short period of time.

If you are still not seeing the updated firmware on your AirPods, maybe you need to reset them and start fresh. Otherwise, give it time, and they likely will update on their own.
