Multiple Numbers associated with Apple ID

My husband and I are on the same Apple account with a phone number for him and a phone number for me. He is unable set up a picture in ”Shared Name and Photo”. I have set one up for myself. We have deselected each other’s phone numbers in Message settings and Face Time settings. How do we fix this? Thanks

Unable to share name and photo in iMessage - Apple ID / phone number issue REDUX 2022 My husband has tried to change his photo on iMessage/Message app but an error message crops up ... "Sharing name and photo not available because multiple phone numbers are associated with your apple id." This question was asked in 2019 and suggestions were made to sign out off iMessage and Facetime ... don't know how to do the latter but have switched iMessage on & off in settings without any improvement. We don't use Facetime. We have one email associated with the Apple ID and our two phone numbers listed for two-factor identification. I was able to change MY photo okay but my husband could not ... he got the error message above. I enabled family sharing on my phone and then sent my husband an invitation to join. That did not work as the invitation had expired. Tried three times and it seems that the invitation does indeed expire after 32 nanoseconds! Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Problem with daughter’s shared name and avatar photo appearing on other phones So, our continued annoyance with everyone in my family being under one Apple ID has a new problem. Right now, there are 4 of us in the family who share my Apple ID. We each have our own phones, phone numbers, iMessage emails, etc. However, my daughter, sometime recently, created her own emoticon to display in iMessage. However, when my son or wife texts ME, the update profile pic and name message constantly pops up. My wife was informed by her boss, today, that any texts my wife sends to her ALSO shows the update notice for my daughter’s avatar and name! I followed the directions to update/remove her avatar, but when I go to the “...” in the primary iMessage window, I get the “Sharing name and photo not available” because multiple phone numbers are associated with our ID. So I now can’t even turn it off! How did she even manage to update her profile if this message comes up? And why the heck is it sending out from other phones on our account?? UPDATE: For whatever reason, the ability to edit the name and photo was ACTIVE on my wife’s phone, which had my daughter’s name and avatar active to share. I turned it off, but why was it working on her phone and not the others, giving me the error above? Also, no idea why or how my wife’s contact info and photo would have my daughter’s on it. This is infinitely confusing. One of the many reasons Apple ID accounts are a giant headache.

How do you fix it? You stop sharing an AppleID. AppleIDs are Apple’s unique personal identifier for Apple services and were never intended to be shared. In order to have control of your own data and settings, avoid data merging, avoid unintended data deletions, and to have any privacy of data, you both need to have and use your own personal AppleIDs for iCloud, FaceTime, iMessage, etc.

You can use family sharing to share purchased content and/or an iCloud storage subscription.
