Apple TV - restore issues - software update server cannot be contacted - fix/solution

Hi There are lots of posts on this, however the fix I found was from not listed fully so this is what fixed my apple TV Gen 3 when I had a restore issue and the various error messages found.

I plugged my apple tv into my computer, on my mac I went to 'Finder' or you can go into I-Tunes and click on the apple TV logo. or MS office use Explorer.

I selected apple TV from the list in Finder and clicked on 'restore' at this point I received the error message. Then I used the apple TV remote and held down the MENU and PLAY buttons at the same time for 6 seconds. (this is obviously a reset or something). At this point the front light on the apple TV started to flash.

I then clicked in and out of the apple TV on Finder menu and then clicked on 'restore' again. This time the software downloaded and the apple TV restored fully. (it took some time to do this, but it worked).

I then disconnected and plugged into my TV and it worked.
