Overheating and Battery drain on Mirroring

I've noticed that my Macbook Pro 16 inch has been overheating quite a bit. Not running many apps. I've been using Zoom and ManyCam and it heats up quickly. It gets worse when I'm mirroring my screen to appletv or using HDMI cable to screen. I've tried resetting the SMC already. Still gets pretty hot.

I also noticed it gets really really hot when I'm using the mac while charging it at the same time. Last time the fans were spinning really fast. Never heard anything like it before, not even on my old pc laptop. Not sure what's going on, only had this computer for about a month. I love it, but I'm worried that something is wrong. Any suggestions? I don't have an Apple store close by, closed. The closest one is about 80 miles away.

Hello Nonas_me,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We understand from your question that your computer is getting warm and the fans are running loud. We can certainly help you with this!

With running two apps simultaneously using the video like Zoom and ManyCam, this behavior is completely expected. When you throw in AirPlaying/wiring into another monitor/TV, this makes perfect sense. Typically the Zoom app itself, depending on the configuration of your computer, will do this.

Keep your Mac notebook within acceptable operating temperatures

We hope this is able to resolve your issue. If you have any more questions or this does not resolve your issue, please reach back out on the thread!

Cheers.
