time machine space
I am getting 'can't back up because no space' in my back drive. I thought time machine always deletes the oldest backup to make space???

There are some specified reasons or things outlined in those
article links further down among those listed; past first two.
Answers and troubleshooting ideas are covered among all.
Each link above has ideas that are better used than not.
This 'page' covers several but not all:
• How to Delete Old Backups from Time Machine on Mac - osxdaily
Some reading and good reference links to bookmark on
more than one device or mac. There are times when you
really should have 'more than one' external dedicated drive
for Time Machine; and be sure to get better brands, too.
There's no 'super simple' answer, really. Some know how to
go into single-user mode, try and use 'terminal commands'.
Anyway, I'm going out to catch up on yard work; cut brush,
and maybe do the weekly mow, of front/back yard tall grass.
Take care & good luck!🌤🌻

I get the error that my back up disk is full. I thought Time machine would get rid of older copies to make room for the new. Is that not right?
