Will this RAM work with my Mid 2009 Macbook Pro?

I'm looking at a RAM stick but don't know if it'll work with my mid 2009 macbook pro. Here's the info on the stick:

Samsung M471B5273DHO - CH9

4GB 2Rx8 PC3 - 10600S - 09 -11 - F3

Thanks in advance for the advice!

For anyone who happens across this thread I installed the Samsung RAM and it's running great. No glitches so far. I was having little glitches with a set of RAM sticks that had different speeds, but with 2 of these matched 4GB Samsung sticks it's humming along.

makes sense but if anyone could speak about this specific one I'd still like to know thanks.

If you follow the links provide above, for more information on RAM for your specific machine...

Your < Samsung M471B5273DHO > appears to be DDR3-1333

I can say Macs are finicky about RAM. You need to the exact specs, and best if in matched pairs.

Your OEM RAM appears

mid 2009 DDR3 1066MHz

I fully suspect your mac will be subject to Kernel panics using DDR3-1333

That is to say when RAM Faster than the stated spec, they are flaky. They will crash a few time a week.

Best to buy RAM from reliable source with the exact specs.

Usually a lifetime guarantee on RAM from third party source like:

https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/apple/memory/

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en

Crucial has an API that can tell you exactly what is appropriate for your machine.

So many of the senior contributors here use only OWC or Crucial RAM that is it unlikely anyone will happen along with specific knowledge of the RAM you cite.

Not all RAM of the "proper" speed ratings wil work in Macs. That is why I buy from OWC because they test RAM for Mac compatibility. I've bought every stick or Mac RAM from them for easily 15 years and all have given perfect service. Their support is excellent.

If you have your mind made up, you can try the Samsung but you need to have a "no-questions-asked" return/refund assurance from the vendor in case it does not work. It's not that Samsung RAM is bad; it's that too many RAM resellers think "RAM is RAM" and don't test in Macs.

Oh, don't buy RAM from auction sites. I'd love to list the sad posts of the last 20 years that bemoaned the decision to get auction site RAM, but Apple didn't make room for us to do that.

PS: I have no connection to OWC other than as a satisfied customer.
