MacBook Pro 2020 4 Thunderbird Ports and the 1TB SDD : Faulty Bluetooth shuts down Machine!

Ok so this is my second post on the discussion forum for the same machine. I just about got out of the issue with the repeated shutdowns of the machine. This was fixed mostly due to the main Macintosh HD disk not being automatically mounted. I mounted this manually from Recovery mode and it seems to be fixed. I will monitor for 24-48 hours.

The new issue is the bluetooth. I tried to shut down blue tooth cos I was not able to find any available blue tooth devices in the vicinity to connect to. However, when I tried to shut the bluetooth down - it shut the entire machine down. So we are back to square 1 with the Shutdown issues! :(

In case anyone is aware of an issue like this, any help would ... well help!?

Hi there nidhinkk,

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your MacBook Pro shutting down unexpectedly when you attempt to disable Bluetooth, and we'd like to see if we can help.

When this occurs, are you attempting to disable Bluetooth through the menu bar, System Preferences, or somewhere else?

Also, try the steps listed here: If your Mac restarted because of a problem

Cheers!

HI Leanne ,

I have already escalated this to Apple support and I am having daily calls with them, however no updates on the latest one so far.

I am trying to shut-off bluetooth from the menu bar by going into the Bluetooth icon and click on 'Turn Bluetooth off'. Note that in all my tests - this only happens when the Mac is on battery. If I am connected to power and try to turn off bluetooth, it works as expected : meaning bluetooth alone turns off or on.

I have already:

  1. Formatted my machine, created a new partition and installed a copy of the macOs there and initiated the start up sequence.
  2. I am not sure whether bluetooth is enabled out of the box for aptX, not that it matters. The blue tooth search for available devices is pretty pretty slow when it comes to discovery! Wonder why?
  3. In SAFE mode, there does not seem to be an issue while on battery or connected to the power and switching on/ off the blue tooth.
  4. I have completed at least 5 Diagnostics on the Mac and all have come out with NO Issues.
  5. There are no peripherals that I have used in my tests.
  6. It is a fresh machine - bought in June 2020 so I really doubt the hardware is going to be faulty. If that was the case, Apple better get its act together. I did pay a bomb for this configuration.
