Operating Keynote with Apple Watch

Why does the Apple Watch not sync with ipads?

I feel as though this is missing out on so much. As a teacher it would be immensely handy to operate and control my Keynotes from my watch when in the classroom. I Know I can do this via my phone, but the idea of operating it from my watch just seems more ‘fluid’. Perhaps you can, or there’s a way around this, other than syncing the iPhone up to show the keynote. The main idea is not to have your phone out when teaching.
