I Have a Broken MacBook Air Screen; is there anyway I can still access the desktop files?

The entire screen is flickering, but I think the computer itself is still functioning. I am wondering if there is any relatively cheap way to access my desktop files. Thanks

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.13

Connect an external display. With an adapter from whatever port your Mac has to HDMI, most TVs can do the job.
