Does (2019) MacBook Pro support HDMI 21:9 resolution (2560x1080)
I recently bought a 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro for school & work but was going to start using it for production soon...
I have one of the older gen. LG Ultra-wide monitors (29UM55-P) which features a spacious 29-inch LED 21:9 widescreen @ 2560x1080 resolution. It has three inputs: (1) DisplayPort 1.2 + (2) HDMI ports.
I learned the hard way (read below...) that only HDMI 2.0 supports 21:9 resolutions. So I am wondering if I get a Thunderbolt 3 Dock or Apple’s Thunderbolt3-to-HDMI adapter, will I be getting an HDMI 2.0 compliment signal that WILL SUPPORT 21:9 screens?
Obviously I realize I could also use a Thunderbolt or USB-C to DisplayPort option, but I honestly would rather stick with HDMI since HDMI ports are much more common on the Thunder 3 Docks, have a bunch of extra HDMI cables already, and I still connect my older Mac Mini to this Monitor using the DisplayPort.

Extra Story:
I had a **** of a time (7-8 years ago) trying to get this monitor to work correctly when I had just bought it to use with my 2012 Mac Mini. Here’s the story if you’re interested...
The main issue I had with my setup was that (8 years ago) I didn’t realize only HDMI 2.0 supported 21:9 (2560x1080 resolution). And I also didn’t realize Apple had chose to stick with an HDMI 1.4 port on the 2012 Mini. So I when I used HDMI, almost 25% of my screen would be black bars.
The only native solution was to connect to LG’s DisplayPort input, however, the Mac Mini only had a single Thunderbolt gen1 port back then. I needed that Thunder port to connect CPU-heavy audio gear, so I ended up daisy chaining my LG Monitor behind one of my Thunderbolt audio racks. For a few months I would have to turn those audio devices on every time I wanted to use the monitor (or unplug everything back and forth!).
Eventually I figured out a simpler solution by downloading some 3rd-party display software that let me send a 2560x1080 signal out of the Mini’s HDMI 1.4 port. This worked most of the time, but it was annoying having to go through the trouble after spending like $4-500 on that brand new monitor. LG had advertised it as "Mac-compatible", but none of their support documents or sites mentioned anything about requiring an HDMI standard that was not yet available on some Macs (keep in mind, my computer was brand new back then!) They should’ve been more clear about the basic requirements!
