New 2020 MacBook Pro searches for Bluetooth keyboard

I just got a new MacBook Pro, my 4th if you include the one I have from work.

Issue is that I somewhat randomly get it searching for a bluetooth keyboard. I think I have narrowed it down to when it comes out of sleep mode. Thing is I have never had this happen on any other Mac Laptop. This thing is pretty fresh out of the box no major tweaks to the OS and the only bluetooth devices paired with it are my AirPods and AirPod Pro's which cam in via iCloud.

After a third chat session with Apple Support I seem to have this resolved. They had me reset the NVRAM. In the last few days I have not had the issue crop up again. I will keep my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

So I guess ur recommendation is trending towards get it returned and fixed by Apple support more than any of the other standard issue debug steps.

I would push them for a return. If that’s a kernel panic on the Bluetooth it’s likely a hardware problem. New system board.

I have a similar issue but mine is more sinister I would like to think...

Switching off bluetooth while on battery mode shuts down the machine abruptly - its like a kill switch! Do let me know if that is something that u are facing too?

Yours sounds like a kernel panic and that’s not good. Definitely more sinister than mine. At least mine goes away after it gives up and the machine unfreezes.

Ok I got it. Have sent some data across to the support team to check with engineering. Will follow for one more week and push for a replacement if I can.
